ASDA: Christmas In Store Round-UP!

I was walking round ASDA today doing the usual weekly shop and spontaneously decided to do a bit of a 'round up' of the new Christmas products ASDA have already started displaying on it's shelves!

Festive Flying Saucers:

'Festive Flying Sauces £3'

Firstly, ASDA have introduced for this year these tubs of your typical pick 'n' mix sweets for the very affordable price of £3! I think these are a fantastic idea for Christmas, as many children (and adults!) have intolerances to chocolate......so these tubs serve as a fantastic alternative to the classic tubs of Celebrations or Heroes! There is a wide variety of choice with these tubs ranging from jelly sweets to marshmallows and these flying saucers!

Munchies Roll:

'Munchies £3'

Next on the list is this HUGE roll of Munchies! Now i'm a huge fan of Munchies so I can see this being added to the shopping trolley in the near future for Christmas! These rolls contain 3x100mg bags of munchies.....which is more than enough to satisfy any chocolate/caramel cravings you have this Christmas! Currently £3.

Quality Street Large Tin:

'Quality Street 1.28kg tin £8'
Next we have the 'large'(or should I say previously normal!) sized tins from Quality Street! These tins weigh in at a hefty 1.28 kg and cost £8, which is considerably different from the 'tubs' that ASDA are selling for £5 which weigh in at 780 kg. I personally have to say every year I get so disappointed at how much smaller, and smaller our tins are becoming! These tins do solve that problem, however be prepared to pay practically double the price for them!

Toblerone Triangle:

'Toblerone Triangle £2'

Toblerone have also revamped their style for Christmas with this fab looking stocking filler that anyone would be pleased to find on Christmas morning! Set in a triangle shape, with a little 'Merry Christmas' note on the packaging, I myself will be paying the very reasonable £2 price for a couple of these as little 'add on' presents for friends and family!

Quality Street Large Strawberry Delight:

Now this Christmas product is one of the ones that i'm most excited about! It's no secret that I love the 'creme' sweets from the Quality Street tins.....so when Quality Street brought out the large versions of 'The Purple One', Fudge and Toffee ones I was eagerly awaiting, with my fingers crossed, for the day that they finally brought out the Strawberry Dream ones. This is something that will definitely be making at least one appearance in my household this Christmas! Currently priced at £5.

Frozen Christmas Chocolates:

'Chocolate Snowies £1'

'Milk & White Chocolate Pieces £1'

I couldn't resist adding these to the list! These are completely adorable and would surely brighten up any little girls Christmas day if she's a Frozen fan! These two are just a small variety of the 'Frozen' chocolate options that ASDA have in for Christmas, but for the price of £1 you can't really go wrong!

Quality Street/Guylian/Heroes etc... Pouches:

For those that have no desire for the tub version of these chocolates or would just rather a smaller amount, then these pouches are ideal for you! These bags do contain around 200 kg less than the normal size tubs, but they are cheaper at £4!

Extra Special Father Christmas:

I couldn't resist adding this beauty to the round up either! Made from extra special Chocolate with a higher than average cocoa content this giant Father Christmas would be the creme de la creme of the Christmas table! Currently £15.

ASDA Christmas Baking:

I LOVE baking at Christmas time....so when I passed the baking aisle and saw that ASDA had a new 'Christmas' range of products, I had to restrain myself from doing a little jig in store!!
First up we have the 'Cake-Pop Kit'. Priced at £2....I've never made any Cake Pops before, so I may have to give these a try closer to Christmas! They look like a fun activity for the family to partake in at Christmas time!

'Cake Decorations £1-2'

ASDA have also introduced a wide range of new cake decoration products for Christmas! These are right up my street! I love baking during Christmas time....when it's freezing cold outside, but the house is filled with the warmth and the homely smell of baking! ....And what makes things even better is the exceptional price of these products! All coming in at under £3! There are a variety of products that would look and taste perfect atop a cake or a lovely yule log! These include Shimmer Snowballs (£1) Milk & White Chocolate decorations (£2), Sugar Sparkle Dust (£2) and many more!

......And it's only October! I'm pretty sure there will be another follow up post closer to Christmas with an even wider range of Christmas products! If you happen to spot anything new and exciting for Christmas then feel free to let me know!

New! Quality Street 'Mini Matchmakers' Zingy Orange

Well, technically these chocolate treats aren't 'new' to the market they are simply 'miniature' versions of the well loved Nestle Matchmaker brand....so when I saw this treat bag of mini Matchmakers in my local Asda at the introductory price of £1 I thought it only fair to try them!

'86 Kcal each 12 stick serving'
To be honest I'm quite glad Nestle have decided to bring out this 'share' bag of miniature Matchmakers as I much prefer the mini 'sticks' to the large ones in the original packs.
The 'mini' Matchmakers seem to be approximately 1/4 of the size of the regular Matchmakers and contain 86 calories every 12 stick serving.
Described as 'Orange flavoured chocolates with skimmed milk chocolate, dark chocolate and boiled sugar pieces' .....they are incredibly tasty!

These mini Matchmakers are incredibly moreish....especially considering their small size! The chocolate sticks are covered in milk and dark chocolate which is incredibly smooth and then infused with orange sugar pieces that give each little stick a nice crunch and certainly live up to their 'zingy orange' name!
Overall, I love that Nestle have brought out these miniature versions of their 'Matchmakers' and that even though they are mini in size they still contain the same zingy orange flavour that we expect from the regular sized version!

Would I buy this again? YES

New! Quality Street 'My Green Bar'

So recently whenever I've been popping into my local newsagents or corner shop I've been picking up whatever new little product they have on display at the tills....and today I'm reviewing Nestle's introduction of the Quality Street 'My Green Bar'.

"Hazelnut Praline in milk chocolate centre"
Last year Nestle decided to make a chocolate bar out of the popular 'Purple' sweet in the Quality Street tins and named it 'My Purple Bar'...and unfortunately for me I'm not too fond of the Purple ones in the tin so that bar didn't tempt me! However....In my family the Green Triangles are one of the sweets to be snapped up immediately! So when I saw this bar at the till of my local Tesco on offer at 2 for £1 you could definitely say I was itching to get my hands on this bar!

First appearances show this bar to be made up of four of the green triangle segments stuck upon a long chocolate base. The shape of the bar is convenient for snapping up into the individual triangles....and then seeing how long you can last without scoffing them all within five minutes!
Described as 'Hazelnut praline in milk chocolate' this bar contains 98 calories per half of the bar....which doesn't half make me feel guilty because c'mon....who's going to be able to resist and only eat two of the four triangles?

"98 Kcal per half bar"
In terms of taste these triangular segments are gorgeous! They are each coated in a layer of milk chocolate covering the segment and contained within is a soft and smooth nutty praline centre....is your mouth watering yet? The chocolate coating is deliciously creamy and makes this bar very sweet and surprisingly filling!
Overall, I am so thankful Nestle have decided to bring out the 'My Green Bar' alongside the 'My Purple Bar' as even though I'm not a fan of the purple version, they are both delicious sweets and rightly deserve their own bar!
.....However, I will be holding out hope that Nestle decided to bring out either the Strawberry or Orange creme (preferably both!) Quality Street sweets in bar shape form for next year as they would be extremely popular...especially in my household!

Would I buy this again? YES

Nestle Quality Street "My Purple Potz"

Today I'm reviewing a fantastic ice cream product I came across in ASDA yesterday, these seem to be new from Nestle and do come in a variety of flavours, but today I'll be reviewing the Quality Street 'My Purple Potz' version!

One of the main 'pulls' that attracted me and made me buy this product from ASDA was that these 'potz' are usually priced at £1.30 but are now on special offer at just 50p a tub!
As said above, these tubs from Nestle come in a variety of flavours including; Smarties, Munchies, Rolo, Areo and the above 'Quality Street' tub.....and i'm going to repeat myself by saying again that these ARE ALL 50P!! So get them whilst you can!

This Quality Street 'My Purple Potz' flavour is described as 'Chocolate flavoured ice cream with caramel sauce and chopped and chunky hazelnut pieces' This tub seems to be an ice cream version of 'The Purple One' sweet in the Quality Street Tins, theoretically the idea works and sounds good!....but how does it taste?....

This 160ml pot contains 188 Kcal
....one word AMAZING.

These little tubs I find to be perfect! I hate opening big tubs of Ice cream and scooping some out then putting it away as I feel the ice creams texture begins to turn funny. Therefore, these little tubs are ideal for me!

First spoonful, I got the creamy taste of the chocolate ice cream (which would have been a fab tasting ice cream on it's own!) and then the crunchy addition of the Hazelnut chunks, followed by the smooth after taste of the caramel sauce....which you can see wisps of throughout the ice cream in the picture above. The other thing I like about these tubs is that they don't skimp on the Hazelnut toppings and caramel sauce which you do seem to find in some ice creams lately!

This pot had the perfect amount of ice cream to fill me up, not too much ice cream that it makes you feel sick....and not too little ice cream that it makes you want more. These tubs would be a great addition in anyone's freezer; for the little children whom you may want to control how much ice cream they eat (and saves you time scooping it out into bowels!) or for my fellow readers who want a sweet treat every now and again!

Overall, I think these 'Potz' are a great concept from Nestle and taste absolutely amazing! I look forward to trying the other flavours, and would definitely recommend these 'Potz' to anyone who likes Quality Streets....or just enjoys simple, good tasting ice cream!

Would I buy this again? 100% YES!
